After three years with pleasure and little maintenance driven around to have to play in an Opel Astra (F) convertible began ideas, it would be no time for anything else? But again a convertible, which was very liked, but perhaps something more modern? In terms of space, we will not have too much to go back and through my long fall back many convertibles already off beforehand. A search for AutoWeek and other sites yielded a list of possible candidates, including the Peugeot 306 convertible.

In terms of comfort Peugeot has always liked us, but also the appearance of the 306 cabrio us it was on, so over the internet a selection of three possible candidates. was mad enough at us to find anything special in the neighborhood at that time, so we went to Utrecht, where we - among others - came to visit Toyota Dealer Kooijman. After a very pleasant conversation and a good trade for our Astra we did not need much reflection, this one from 2000 with 90,000 km on the clock and almost a new convertible to be him. Comes with major service and six years warranty.

Now, eight months and fun to drive later, we still do not regret the purchase. The car is very comfortable but surprisingly sportier suspension than the Astra. It is also clear to see that it is a modern convertible here; The torsional rigidity is considerably larger, resulting in less squeaks and creaks. The shade is better insulated to outside noises even less coming into the interior. It is told in the rear windows wind.

In motor development is certainly no streaks trigger, but the 1.6 offers sufficient strength and flexibility to be well along in traffic. 50 in the "five" is not a problem as well with 120/130 km / h keeps everyone well understood. The consumption lies with us around the first 13, with the caveat that it is widely used for city rides.

The car comes with a windbreak, this however, we use sporadically. Once installed it works fine, but is not easy to place him; the cover of the convertible top will need to be opened a little, after which the brackets of the wind-catcher may fall into it. At the front harness the wind-catcher in the belt notches. Altogether, this makes belts running less smoothly, there to hear crackling, and - if the hood is closed - is not dismantle the windbreak. Reason for us to use him only. 70-80 km / h, it is moreover to keep out fine without windbreak.

In the winter of last year in mind, we have equipped the 306 in November of winter tires with steel wheels, an investment of € 600, -, but one that has already more than proven his advantage!

Significant problems have not been (thankfully), but the car is within the warranty have been back a few times to the garage. Amongst others worn brakes. We have made no purchase in test drive, you might find that, but this is neatly solved by Kooijman. Also a laborious side window down and went up again, the outlet was a 'sporty' bijgeluid and had built an alarm of its own; it went smoothly without apparent cause off. Although these items are easily and properly dissolved under warranty.

With the first snow of this winter windshield appeared not to function more and freezing temperatures did not help a gasket on the engine block, which resulted in a small amount of oil leakage. These issues have now been repaired.
